But is wasn't always that way. I was an accountant sitting at a desk, doing what accountants do. However, I always found myself explaining financial terms and financial statements to my non-accountant colleagues. Not only that I enjoyed it! Yes, I enjoyed teaching the basics of accounting to non-accountants.
Now, before you write me off as a strange character, let me tell you a bit about me and my background. I hail from a family line of teachers who taught in public education and religious organizations. Teaching is a part of my DNA, and over the years I have developed and perfected my teaching ability and applied it to what I know best - accounting!
I'm not the typical accountant you think of when you think of accountants. I make accounting interesting and fun and memorable.
A Business is Born
Fast forward to the year 2000. I finally decided to launch my own business, teaching accounting to non-accountants. The main reason for this was that I discovered that many business owners and business people did not understand the fundamentals or basics of accounting. These same people entrusted their businesses solely to their hired accountants without even understanding what was going on in their business financially! In many cases the accountant sold them down the river and in other cases the business owner did not know the financial health of the business.
Four times per year I held face-to-face accounting seminars entitled 'Teaching Non-Accountants the Basics of Accounting'. These seminars were attended not only by business owners but by anyone who had a keen interest to know the basics of accounting and within a short time period of time. The seminars were very successful and many attendees were able to walk away from the event having gained new skills and knowledge in the area of accounting.
My Story
In 1990 I earned the CPA designation - basically this means I became a qualified professional in the area of accounting. I worked in the corporate world for four years after that then started my own business training companies on how to use such applications as MS Office, and various Accounting Software. From there I moved into direct sales and led an organization of over 5, 000 people. Then I launched the accounting seminar business I referred to above before been head-hunted and persuaded to move back into the corporate world to spearhead a government organization.

Taking My Business Online
In 2010, with the internet in full sway, I started to promote other accounting programs and courses that I found to be very useful in teaching the basics of accounting. One of those courses stood head and shoulders above the rest - The Reallife Accounting Course.
Today
I'm a successful CFO of a multi-million dollar corporation in Bermuda (the most beautiful island, situated in the Atlantic Ocean). I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to speak on stages to tell my story and to conduct accounting training seminars in Bermuda (my island home) and the UK..
